My everyday makeup routine

Everyday makeup routine 1I thought today I would show you the products I use for my ‘everyday makeup’, because I do my makeup most days especially now that I’m back at work. I definitely do have many makeup free days (especially on weekends) but I actually really love doing my makeup. It’s fun and I just love how ‘done’ it makes me look.

As much as I love experimenting with my makeup and trying new products, I often come back to this tried and true makeup routine which is quick and easy. It’s perfect for most situations because it’s quite neutral, super quick to apply, requires basically no thought and still looks professional and polished enough for me to wear to work.

My everyday makeup look:

Base

I always start with my skincare routine so I’m starting with a clean, freshly moisturised face (with some sunscreen). My skincare routine has changed a fair bit product-wise since I posted about my routine, but at the moment I’m using the Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream and still loving my La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light SPF50+* sunscreen.

First up for my base is the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter*. I dot one pump of this over my face and then use the Beauty Blender Pro* to work it in. Next is my favourite foundation right now, the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ in Medium*. Like the primer, I’ll dot this on my face and use the Beauty Blender to blend it in.

(A note on the Beauty Blender: make sure you run it under water first and squeeze out the excess water so it’s damp. This way it won’t absorb all your lovely products! When you’re using it you want to make sure you’re bouncing it on your skin, not dragging it along your face. This will give you that lovely ‘airbrushed’ look the Beauty Blender is famous for.)

I’m currently using two concealers (greedy, I know!), both of which I blend in with the Beauty Blender. The first is Benefit Fake Up Undereye Concealer in Medium* which brightens my under eye area and gives a little extra moisturiser, which I follow up with my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Medium Light Neutral  which has amazing coverage.

Cheeks

For blush I am loving the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Coral Calypso* which I apply with my fingers and usually finish off with the Beauty Blender. At the moment I’m following up with the BECCA Jaclyn Hill Collection Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight in Champagne Pop*. I draw this straight onto the high points of my cheek bones and blend with the Beauty Blender.

Eyes

I always fill in my eyebrows when I’m wearing makeup, it just adds a little definition. Right now I’m using either the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown* or the Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper in Rich Brown*.

Then for my eyes, I’ll start off by my curling my eyelashes and then apply NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base over my eyelid. I have oily eyelids and my makeup tends to crease if I skip this step!

For eyeshadow I’m loving using my By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow in no 13 Perfect Brown. I apply it all over my eyelid and then use my finger to blend it in a little. This colour is really beautiful and it’s a perfect neutral for me. It’s an ideal formula for a quick everyday makeup look because it’s so easy to apply and it isn’t too over-the-top colour wise.

If I have some extra time (or want some extra definition on my eyes) I’ll also add some eyeliner in here.

Finally for my eyes I will use mascara, my absolute favourite right now is the Lancome Grandiose Smudgeproof Mascara (which I can’t seem to find online anywhere! But the Lancome Grandiose Waterproof Mascara looks to be the same or you can buy the original here*). Other mascaras that I use on a regular basis are the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl and Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes 4 in 1 Waterproof Mascara in Black*.

Everyday makeup routine 2

Lips

I don’t have any lip products in my photos here because my lips are where I will generally mix things up pretty regularly (I am very partial to a red lip). But if I’m in a rush or going for easy and simple I will just use a balm (my favourite is Trilogy Everything Balm*), a gloss (Go-To Pinky-Nudey Lips is my current fave for this) or my DiorGlow lipstick which adapts to a custom pink colour when applied on your lips.

So that’s my everyday makeup routine with the products I am using most days right now. It’s easy and I can apply it so quickly with such a minimal amount of thinking which is perfect for work mornings.
